CONFERENCE ACCESS FOR PATHOLOGY FACULTY AND RESIDENTS

As the Department has grown with many of us away from our Oakland hub, we have recognized a need to provide continuing educational opportunities to department members. To this end we have set-up a system that should allow you to access and participate in these CME efforts from remote sites.

Beginning the week of March 4, 2002, we will begin broadcasting our Seminars in Laboratory Medicine/Current Topics in Laboratory Medicine (12:00 Noon, Monday), AP/CP Didactic Conference (8:00 AM, Tuesday), Departmental Seminar (12:00 Noon, Wednesday), Diagnostic Pathology Conference (12:00 Noon, Thursday). In real time, you may log onto these conferences through our department website and experience the audio and visual components of the lectures. If you miss the talk, the lectures will be archived and can be accessed through the same log on mechanism.

This is the first phase of this process. We would like to see if department members use this resource. If so, future plans include the ability to obtain CME credits, options to ask questions of the speaker from remote sites, increasing the number of conferences available, and even offering these talks to other non-UPMC pathologists.
